Audit log

The audit log is one channel in your server. After each move that posted messages, Pippin posts one entry there.

What an entry shows

  • Who started the move.
  • How many messages Pippin posted.
  • Where the messages came from, with a link to the first message.
  • Where the messages went, with a link to the first copy.
  • How the move ended: completed, stopped, or failed partway.
  • For moves: if Pippin deleted the originals.

A move to another server posts an entry in both servers, if each server has an audit log.

Who can set it

Members with the Manage Server permission.

Set the audit log

Use the /audit-log command:

  • /audit-log set channel:#channel picks the channel.
  • /audit-log show tells you the current channel.
  • /audit-log off turns the audit log off.

You can also use the pippin.gg dashboard. Open your server, then the Audit log tab.

Which channels you can use

Pick a text channel or an announcement channel. Pippin needs View Channel and Send Messages in that channel.

When you save, Pippin posts a confirmation message in the channel. If Pippin cannot post there, nothing is saved, and Pippin tells you which permission to give.

When you turn the audit log off, Pippin posts a goodbye message in the old channel.

If the channel stops working

If someone deletes the channel, or Pippin loses access to it, moves still work. Pippin skips the entries until a manager picks a channel again.
